BUSINESS AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

The Town of Ramseur is a great small community with a
progressive, business-friendly climate.

The Town of Ramseur has been accepted into a competitive economic development grant program called the North Carolina Small Towns Economic Prosperity (NC STEP) program.

The NC STEP program is an economic development program of the NC Rural Center. NC STEP has three primary goals: support economic recovery and revitalization in small towns; implement a comprehensive model of technical assistance and grantmaking to aid revitalization; and inform the development of public policies that encourage the economic vitality of North Carolina's small towns. Ramseur is currently engaged in the planning phase of the NC STEP program which provides $25,000 in funding to facilitate economic development and leadership training, work sessions with an NC STEP coach, and the development of a strategic economic development plan for the Ramseur community. In the second phase of the program, Ramseur will be awarded up to $100,000 to begin implementation of projects which are consistent with the economic development plan which is crafted in the planning phase.

Ramseur's NC STEP meetings are open to the public and provide opportunity for interaction among those in attendance. Ramseur residency is not a requirement for attendance, and all members of the community are welcome to join the discussion at any stage of the process. Monthly meetings are typically held at Town Hall, 724 Liberty Street, on the fourth Tuesday evening of each month from 6:00-8:00.
